- 1 in 10 babies are born premature

- Babies born before 37 weeks are classed as premature

- Babies born before 28 weeks are classed as micro-premature

- Most premmie babies spend time in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)

- Viable gestation is believed to be at 23-24 weeks however the record for youngest premature baby to survive is 21 weeks and 5 days

*Stevie Wonder - famous singer, born premature at 35 weeks in 1950, developed ROP causing him to lose eyesight as a baby

*Anna Pavlova - one of the worlds most famous ballarinas, born 2 months premature in 1881

*Sir Isaac Newton - defined the laws of gravity and motion born premature in 1642 weighing 3lb

*Albert Einstein - physicist and noble prize winner born premature in 1879
